ASTM A519 is a resulfurzed. low-carbon. hioh-manganese steel engineered for mechanical structuralapplications. With a carbon content of 0.19-0.25 % and manganese of 1.35-1.65 %, SAE 1524 (AISI 1524/UNS G15240) tubing delivers abalanced combination of strength (vield 280 -540 MPa,tensile 510-655 MPa), ductlity (elongation 2 12 %), and exceptional machinabity(up to 90 % relative to free-machining 1215 steel). its low carbon equivalent ensures reliable weldability, while recommended cold-drawingannealing, and surface treatments (hnitriding, shot peening) optimize fatigue life and wear resistance.
